If you or someone you know is in crisis, there are resources available to help. Here are some crisis hotlines and support lines that provide 24/7 support and assistance for individuals experiencing a range of challenges, from mental health crises to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

  • RAINN — R*pe, Abuse, and Incest hotline - A 24/7 support line for anyone who is a survivor of sexual assault, abuse, or incest (800) 656-9673.

  • Center for Women and Families DV Crisis Hotline — 24/7 crisis hotline where you can connect with a member about your DV situation and discuss your options, (844) 237-2331.

  • National Human Trafficking Hotline — (800) 373-7888 or text "Help" to 233733

  • National Sexual Assault Hotline — (800) 656-HOPE (4673)

  • National Suicide Prevention Hotline — 24/7 hotline for anyone experiencing suicidal ideation (800) 656-9673 or text/call 988.

  • Seven Counties Crisis Line — For immediate mental health assistance and 24/7 Addiction Help (502) 583-3951.

  • 24/7 Adult Crisis Line — (502) 589-4313

  • URGENT Mental Health Crisis Text — Every texter is connected with a Crisis Counselor, a real-life human being trained to bring texters from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening and collaborative problem solving. All of Crisis Text Line’s Crisis Counselors are volunteers, donating their time to helping people in crisis. Text HOME to 741741 to connect with a Crisis Counselor.

  • Seven Counties Recovery Program (Click to View) — This center provides a range of addiction recovery services, including outpatient treatment, medication-assisted treatment, and recovery support services.

  • Volunteers of America Mid-States (Click to View) — VOA Recovery Program: This program offers a range of services, including residential addiction treatment, outpatient services, and medication-assisted treatment.

  • Seeds of New Leaf (Click to View) — This organization provides a range of services, including addiction treatment, case management, and recovery support.

    • Rolling Recovery — This mobile response van connects individuals directly with treatment services. Contact Rolling Recovery at (502) 528-4604 for more information.

By accessing these resources, individuals can get the support they need to overcome addiction and begin their path to recovery.

If you are a tenant in Kentucky and need information about your rights, there are resources available to help. Here are some organizations that provide support for fair housing and tenants' rights:

  • Kentucky Fair Housing Council: If you have experienced discrimination in your search for a home, homeowners or renters insurance, buying a home, or mortgage financing, call the Kentucky Fair Housing Council at (859) 971-8067.

  • Stop My Eviction: (https://www.stopmyeviction.org/) This website provides resources and information to help tenants who are facing eviction.

  • Legal Aid Society: Tenant and Foreclosure Information (English and Spanish): These flyers provide information about tenants' rights and resources for individuals who are facing foreclosure or eviction.

By accessing these resources, tenants can get the support they need to ensure their rights are protected and to address any housing-related challenges they may be facing.

If you are in need of financial assistance, there are a variety of organizations and resources available to help. From emergency cash assistance to food assistance and rental assistance, here are some resources that you can access in order to get the support you need.

LIHEAP (LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)

Are you or someone you know in need of utility assistance? Reminder that Jefferson County residents within 130% of the federal poverty guidelines are encouraged to apply for the Crisis Component of LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program). The program assists income-eligible households in Jefferson County with home heating costs from now through June 2, 2023 or until funds are depleted.

Call (502) 991-8391 or schedule online at http://louisvilleky.cascheduler.com by (or until appointments are full, whichever comes first).

How to apply:
Jefferson County residents meeting eligibility can call the automated scheduler at
(502) 991-8391 or visit online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com.

Eligibility:

  • Households within 130% of 2021-22 Federal Poverty Guidelines, and

  • Received a disconnect notice from metered utility service provider, or

  • Received a current bill with a past due amount, or

  • Received an eviction notice if utilities are included in the rent, or

  • Be within four days of running out of bulk fuel; or

  • Be within ten days of running out of pre-paid electric service.

Documentation:

  • Proof of all household income for the preceding month (Food Stamp award letter, Social Security Award letter, pay stubs, or proof of $0 income). Note: Zero Income forms are available at the Resilience and Community Services office at 701 W. Ormsby Ave., Suite 201 as well as the six LIHEAP locations listed below or by clicking here.

  • Social Security card(s) or (official documentation with Social Security Numbers) or Permanent Residence card (Green Card) for each member of the household; and

  • Disconnect notice or a current bill with a past due amount for metered utilities; or

  • Eviction notice and copy of lease if heating expenses are included in the rent. or 

  • Statement from utility company that shows 10 days or less of service if participating in pre-paid electric service. Include the account number and name on the account for all heating fuel sources and electric.

LOUISVILLE URBAN LEAGUE

Contact the Urban League at (502) 585-4622 for rental assistance. While they will arrange some short term support as needed, the organization really will focus on long term self-sufficiency, employment, and educational needs.

ST. VINCENT DEPAUL

Contact St. Vincent DePaul at (502) 584-2480 for rental, deposit, utility, food, and gas assistance.

MSD’S SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT PROGRAM

Senior citizens, 65 or older with a gross annual household income of $35,000 or less, may be eligible to receive a 30 percent discount on wastewater charges and the consent decree surcharge.

How to apply: Jefferson County residents meeting eligibility can call the automated scheduler at (502) 991-8391 or visit online at louisvilleky.cascheduler.com.

Eligibility:

  • Client must be 65 years of age or older and a named customer with MSD.

  • Gross household income is $35,000 or less per year.

  • Not currently receiving MSD’s EWRAP (Emergency Wastewater Rate Assistance Program) as of date of application.

  • Senior Citizen Discount customers must re-certify annually.

Documentation:

  • Proof of age (must provide driver’s license, state ID, or birth certificate).

  • Proof of social security number or permanent residence card (Green Card) for each member of the household.

  • Must provide proof of all income received during the previous month by any member of the household (gross).

  • Proof of active utility account with Louisville Water Company and MSD. (i.e. Named customers with MSD, receiving metered water service for a property used solely for residential purposes, and owned or leased by customer as principal residence).

Youth and Young Adult Resources

  • YMCA Safe Place Drop-in Services — The Youth Development Center at YMCA Safe Place (2400 Crittenden Drive next to Denny’s) is open for youth and young adults (18 to 24 years) Monday through Friday, 9 A.M. – 2 P.M. Services include: computer access, showers, laundry, meal, health screening and referrals, case management, and mental health support. Questions, contact Roan Head

  • YMCA Shelter House — Shelter House serves 12-17 year olds who need shelter or other crisis support. Call (502) 635-5233 for information. 

  • TAYLRD Drop In Center —TAYLRD provides services and supports for young people, ages 16-25, who are dealing with or at risk of mental health issues and other significant barriers to finding independence. They are located at 1020 E Broadway Suite 101. Drop in Wednesday through Friday from 2pm - 5pm.  Call for info: (502) 690-4399

  • Home of the Innocents — Pathways HOME program provides services to young adults (ages 18-24) who are experiencing homelessness.
